NC’s budget details will matter for a healthy state

Budget details will matter for taking the full measure of our state’s progress in making sure people’s health and well-being is protected.

A budget to support North Carolina’s health should:

  • Sustain the commitment to people’s health and well-being for the long-term by protecting revenue sources;
  • Recognize that people are healthy when they are safe on the job and in their classrooms and neighborhoods;
  • Protect the air we breath, the water we drink, and steward a healthy environment;
  • Expand access to Medicaid to those in the coverage gap;
  • Make health care affordable and accessible in every community;
  • Not restrict health care services for any group of people
As budget season gets underway, elected leaders should focus on the priorities that people have identified for their public dollars, not political games that could jeopardize our state’s progress on solidifying a better future.
