Jarred Gibson

Jarred builds the public’s understanding of the policy process, including how to advocate for change. He also connects policymakers with the public in order to advance policies that allow all North Carolinians to thrive. Before joining the Budget & Tax Center in 2026, Jarred helped organize parents and community members across North Carolina to advocate for public school funding. He began his career as a high school science teacher and later served as a professional development specialist. Jarred was born and raised in Alamance County with family roots in Rutherford County. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology and biology from Washington University in St. Louis. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking and spending time with family.
